"MOX
Decision Delayed"
Carlisle News & Star, April 1999
[Posted 22/04/1999]
BNFL must wait several more months before
it knows whether Sellafield's £300 million MOX plant will get the government
go-ahead. Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott is said to still be "some
months" away from a decision on which hundreds of jobs rest. It is six
months since the Environment Agency recommended that full operation
should get the green light, handing the final decision to Mr Prescott.
BNFL has warned that the delay is costing £1.5 million a month - the
bill for running an inactive recycling plant.
