WISE-Paris, 31 October 2001
[Posted 31/10/2001]
In a press release dated 30 October 2001, Professor
A. Trakatellis, Member of the European Parliament and Chairman of the
STOA Panel, officially confirms the decision taken by the Panel on 23
October 2001 concerning the report on La Hague and Sellafield prepared
for STOA and the General Directorate of Research of the European Parliament
by WISE-Paris. This announcement is made "urgently necessary"
by a number of "mispresented" reports of this decision in
the press.
The STOA Panel "took note of the study (...) and agreed to publish
it as a first contribution to the scientific debate on the possible
toxic effects from the nuclear reprocessing plants in Sellafield and
Cap de La Hague."
"The study will be published together with a letter from the Chairman
of the STOA Panel explaining the decision, as well as the evaluation
reports of experts, whose opinion was formally requested by the STOA
Panel."
