New figures for plutonium stocks worldwide

Referring to the recent declarations of the Permanent Missions to the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), published under the reference n°549 of the IAEA "Information Circular", worldwide stocks of separated plutonium and plutonium contained in spent fuels continue to increase. As of 31 December 2000, the worldwide stock of separated plutonium exceeded 235 t (at least +7.5 t during 2000), and the worldwide stock of plutonium contained in spent fuel exceeded 764.5 t (at least +14 t during 2000).
